Description
Premix Vit. E+Sel
In carrying out their functions, selenium and vitamin E exhibit a high degree of synergism within the body. Selenium enhances pancreatic function and lipase production, which leads to improved fat digestion and, consequently, better absorption of vitamin E in the digestive tract.
An adequate amount of selenium in the body promotes the proper production of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase and reduces the levels of free radicals. As a result, the need for vitamin E to protect cell membranes decreases, and the subsequent functions of vitamin E are improved. Vitamin E helps maintain selenium in its active form in the body and prevents its excretion.
A sufficient level of vitamin E reduces the production of hydroperoxides, thereby lowering the consumption of glutathione peroxidase enzymes. This leads to a decreased requirement for selenium in the immune system and enhances its other physiological roles.
